We dreamed up this magical gathering with our dear friends Corina of Wild & Free Jewelry and Barbara of Barbara Goes Wear. It was an amazing collaboration uniting our passions of butterflies, self-growth, and picnics!
Ever since I discovered this macrame tent in Emily Katz Modern Macrame book I knew we had to build it! I immediately had envisioned using it to create a fairy-like setting nestled in the woods, and I am proud to say this vision came to life thanks to Corina & Barbara! We styled the tent with sheer monarch butterflies and laid out colorful picnic rugs from the Wandering Folk x Nine Lives Bazaar collection.
Corina led us through her creative process on how to make her butterfly fairy comb set, which is now available and can be found on her website here. She is such an inspiring creator and we had the pleasure co-hosting her very first DIY event.
While getting crafty, we snacked on an array of dairy-free, nut-based cheeses from our local favorite, Oat Bakery, and summer fruits from the farmer’s market. We baked a lemon and coconut cake using a recipe from Sweet Laurel’s Cookbook and decorated it with wildflowers and faux butterflies. It was the perfect amount of sweet and tart!
Lastly, Barbara led us in a discussion on the topic of metamorphosis.
– Think of an experience that you have considered to be a challenging time in your life.
– What did you discover in yourself from this experience?
A lesson can be learned from these challenging experiences, which can serve as a tool in handling potential challenges in the future. You must acknowledge the inner strength it takes to overcome challenges and be compassionate towards yourself. Every stage and experience in your life serves a purpose, let’s learn to see it —> flow through it —> emerge from it. Don’t remain a caterpillar forever and don’t let fear convince you to stay inside your cocoon forever. You were born to be a butterfly- to fly, flourish, and transform into the best version of yourself.
